Senior Psychologist
Clinical interest in supporting clients coping with physical health conditions, chronic symptom management, injury recovery, and post-concussion rehabilitation.
April is a registered psychologist with a health speciality. She completed her Master of Health Psychology in 2021. She has experience working in physical health settings to support patients recovering from injury and experiencing ongoing symptoms. Her clinical work has particularly focused on pain management and concussion recovery. She has experience supporting clients with a diverse range of mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, stress management, trauma, relationship difficulties, and physical symptom-related distress.
April has an evidence-based approach to therapy, drawing on a range of empirically supported therapy modalities including CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based interventions, and self-compassion. She has a warm, collaborative therapeutic style, with an emphasis on education and understanding the ‘science’ of ourselves.
April has a special interest in evolutionary psychology, understanding how aspects of human behaviour and cognition have been shaped over history to solve problems and aid in our survival.
Outside of work you’re likely to find April reading poetry or challenging herself in the gym.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (double major, Physiology and Psychology), Bachelor of Science (Honours) with First Class Honours in Psychology, Master of Health Psychology (First Class Honours), Post Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology
